Ready Rooms Initiative

Ready Rooms

Supporting the spaces that support people

Ready Rooms is a JimJam initiative focused on practical, visible improvements to rooms that matter - from staff rooms and waiting areas to support spaces, kitchens and community rooms.

One room, one quarter, one clear improvement that people can feel immediately.

Why it exists

Why Ready Rooms exists

We had seen plenty of giving happen at a distance. Important but often hard to feel. We wanted to do something more direct: practical improvements on the ground, in the kinds of rooms people actually walk into and rely on.

As a facilities business, we know that the condition of a room affects how people feel inside it. Ready Rooms is our way of putting that belief into action beyond the workplace too.

A transformed community space - clean, welcoming and ready for the people who use it

What qualifies

What is a Ready Room?

A Ready Room is any room or support space that plays a real role in people's lives and would benefit from practical improvement. That could be a staff room in a food bank, a support room in a community organisation, a waiting area, a community kitchen or another shared room that helps people through work, hardship, recovery or everyday life.

What we focus on

  • Deep cleaning and resetting the space
  • Improving layout, storage and organisation
  • Refreshing surfaces, decoration and signage
  • Practical furnishing and finishing touches
  • Minor repairs where needed

All work is delivered by JimJam directly. We focus on practical improvements we can deliver well.

The Process

How Ready Rooms works

Each quarter, we choose one project and focus on a clearly defined room or support space where practical improvements can make a visible difference. Depending on the room, that might include cleaning and resetting the space, improving layout and storage, decorating, adding signage, minor fixes, furnishings, or useful finishing touches that make the room more functional, more welcoming and more ready.

01

Nominate

Tell us about your organisation and the space you want to see transformed. We accept nominations on a rolling basis, reviewed each quarter.

02

Selected

Each quarter, we select one organisation. Selection is based on the potential impact - the spaces and the people who use them most. We contact you directly.

03

Transformed

We visit your site, plan the work and deliver the transformation. Deep cleaning, repairs, a refresh - practical improvements that make a visible difference.

The goal is not to do everything. It is to make one room feel better in a way people notice immediately.

Selection criteria

What we look for

We select based on impact. We are looking for organisations where a transformed space would make a direct, meaningful difference to the people who use it every day.

  • A clearly defined room or support space
  • A place that supports people in a meaningful way
  • An organisation doing practical local work
  • A project where visible improvement can be made quickly and well
  • A room that would benefit from care, function and dignity being restored
Nominations open

Know a room that could use some care?

If you work with or know an organisation with a room that supports people and could benefit from practical improvement, we would love to hear about it.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Can a whole building be nominated?

Ready Rooms is designed around one clearly defined room or support space at a time, so the impact stays focused and immediately felt.

What kinds of improvements does Ready Rooms cover?

That depends on the room, but projects usually focus on practical changes that improve how the space looks, feels and functions.

Can commercial businesses apply?

Ready Rooms is intended for spaces that support people through community, charitable, support or shared-purpose work.

Is there any cost to the selected organisation?

Ready Rooms is a JimJam initiative. The selected organisation is not charged for the work. We focus on practical improvements we can deliver well within the scope of each project.

How long does the transformation take?

It depends on the space and the scope of work. Most transformations are completed within one to three days. We plan the work carefully to minimise disruption to your organisation.
